How do I change back to the Classic Yahoo mail?

By malmy at 16 November, 2012, 5:18 am

I do not like the new yahoo mail. I actually hate it. I do not need nor want all of the extra stuff such as the news updates, twitter, flickr and all of that junk. I just want to read my mail and get it over with. How can I return to the classic version?

"To switch back to Yahoo classic mail"
There is no link to go back that is what yahoo has failed to let users know. But there are two ways to go back that I know of see below to see what I did and it did work.

There are large numbers of users on here with similar issues. Two ways to back to the other mail that I know of.The new beta mail they say it’s 2X faster it’s really 10X slower I had it I lost more than half my mail folders.I did a live chat session w/Yahoo told them if I can’t go back I will leave yahoo they switched back. Two ways to switch back you can go & do a like chat session with a Yahoo customer service rep/agent like I did.To do this go here.Click on the link below to do your live chat.

And the other way is if you reduce your screen down just not sure how far down. But if you reduce it down far enough you will see an option to switch back. This will not switch you back to the all new mail it will switch you back to the Yahoo classic mail.Or you can just try emailing Yahoo with your issues that will take some time 3-4 days if your lucky.

These 2 links might work but you must use them every time or you will revert back to regular.

Apparently they’re not offering an option to do that. I’d suggest you take your email business to a different email service.

The new ‘Regular Mail’ still does not work well with some computers. Yahoo wants everyone to switch to the newest version, so has removed any links to change back. Even switching to Classic Mail by temporarily lowering the screen resolution until you are asked to switch, or temporarily disabling Javascript also only works for some users.

The easiest way to switch back to Yahoo Classic is to use one of the following links each time you open your mail – save the Bookmark as a Favorite. (If your account is registered in another country other than the US, the links starting with http://us.mc598— should be changed to your country abbreviation.)
http://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic (might be a permanent change)
http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome
http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch (This link is faster.)

In the small print there should be a choice near the bottom to make the change permanent.

If all else fails, try contacting Yahoo! Customer Service, but you will need to be persistent to talk to a human, and must ‘insist’ on switching versions, even if they say at first that it cannot be done.
Warning – the lines are very busy almost all the time.
USA (6am to 6 pm, Pacific Standard Time)
1-866-562-7219, 1-800-318-0631,
Yahoo Personal Email: 1-866-492-4664
(less known, so more chance to talk to a human)

The change back to Classic can be done with a small (temporary) change. Either disable Javascript or lower the screen resolution. Log out of your account before trying these, then log in afterwards. Once you have switched back to Classic Mail, re-boot and change these settings back again.

1. For Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom level. In the scripting section, disable active scripting.
For Firefox and Chrome, go to Tools > Options > Content and un-check Enable JavaScript.
This solution is not successful with all versions of Windows 7.

2. Lower the screen resolution one stage at a time in the Control Panel > Personalization > Display section. (Normally it is 1024 x 768 or higher).Once it is too low, when you open Mail you are asked to switch to Mail Classic > click Yes. There will be some waiting, flashing, and scrolling, but the screen shows up eventually.

The only way that you can switch back is to:

When you are in your e-mail go to the top of the page and click help. Then go to contact us. Then look to the right and you will see a box where it says chat with a yahoo representative. Ask them to change you back to yahoo classic. They will give you some static first about changing back and ask you why you don’t like it. They will try to talk you into keeping the new one and just tell them "I don’t like it and I want to go back" They will ask you to log out of your e-mail and then they will change it back. I did that just yesterday because I hated it to. This is the ONLY way to have it changed.

Chat with a representative online and they will switch it back for you . I just did.

Plus make sure we all complain and maybe they will keep classic open .
